Working memory is a critical aspect of our cognitive system that enables us to temporarily store and process new information while we use it. It is essential for reasoning, understanding, learning and updating our long-term memory.

You have 8 apples, you ate 2 and bought another 3. How many apples do you have now?

If you struggle to solve this problem, it could be due to your working memory not functioning effectively.

At ILLAC, we offer a unique program that intentionally stimulates working memory to improve it. Our program has been scientifically proven to deliver results, with 100% of our students showing an improvement in working memory by at least 40% after just 6 months of training. This is not a baseless claim, as our students are scientifically reassessed every 6 months, and parents can attest to the remarkable improvement in their children’s working memory.

Not only is our program highly effective, but children love attending our classes thanks to the fun and stimulating activities that we offer. So, not only are parents satisfied with their investment, but children are eager to come to ILLAC and enjoy the learning process!

Mental flexibility is a critical aspect of cognitive development and learning. It allows individuals to adapt to changing demands, perspectives and priorities with ease.

Try naming the colours of each word as quickly as possible (i.e. the first one is green):

If you struggle to do this, it could be due to your mental flexibility not functioning effectively.

In our ILLAC Junior Program, we understand the importance of enhancing mental flexibility and have designed a comprehensive program to help children develop this important skill.

Through the use of engaging and challenging puzzles and content that highlight different cultures of the world, our program stimulates this aspect of the brain and helps children to expand their mental flexibility. As a result, children who graduate from the program are not only more knowledgeable about different countries and cultures but they also perform better on cognitive tests and are better prepared for Primary 1 than students of the same age from other enrichment centers.

In fact, 100% of our students have shown improvement in mental flexibility in our scientific assessments, which is a testament to the effectiveness of our program. So if you want your child to be ahead of the curve and develop the skills they need to succeed, consider enrolling them in the ILLAC Junior Program today!

Inhibitory control refers to the ability to control impulses, resist distractions, and make thoughtful decisions.

Try chanting the 3 times table as quickly as possible but skipping multiples that consist of the number “2”.

Takes a lot to do this without hiccups isn’t it?

It’s a critical skill for success in a classroom setting, where children must manage multiple distractions and stimuli.

To develop inhibitory control, our program uses activities such as music and movement, breathing exercises, and role-playing, which help children regulate their own behavior and focus their attention. While strict discipline and strict teachers may be seen as necessary for good behavior, the most important factor is the child’s own ability to regulate their behavior.

We also offer one-on-one consultations with parents to ensure they are a part of the process to improve their child’s inhibitory control skills. Through our program, 100% of students have shown improvement in their inhibitory control, as demonstrated through scientific assessment every 6 months.

How do I know which level my child belongs to ?

Our assessment tool allows us to accurately categorise students based on their cognitive abilities, ensuring that each child is placed in a class that is tailored to their specific needs. This way, children can learn and progress at their own pace without feeling overwhelmed or left behind. Our aim is to create a comfortable and supportive learning environment that maximizes each child’s potential. To determine the level that would be most suitable for your child, simply book an appointment with us.

Level 1

In Level 1, students are typically between the ages of 2 to 3 years old. This level focuses on stimulating the neurological development of the child, with an emphasis on the key cognitive skills of mental flexibility, working memory, and inhibitory control. To achieve this, lessons consist of a variety of hands-on activities, such as playing with different sounds of alphabets, learning about different cultures, practising phonetical sounds, and working on numeracy and photographic memory. Additionally, role-playing, breathing control, and music and movement are also used to enhance inhibitory control. The lessons are designed to be energetic and fun-filled, with a focus on maximum student involvement and engagement. They are conducted with parents present, allowing for a collaborative and hands-on learning experience.

Level 2

Level 2 is typically for children above 3 years old. In addition to the activities covered in Level 1, Level 2 also focuses on advancing the child’s ability to think critically and analytically through puzzles and poems, and improving their working memory through activities such as spelling, skip counting and visualizing colors. The level also emphasizes on socialization, posture control, and inhibitory control through role-playing, music, and movement. Small class size and hands-on learning experiences through authentic props and manipulatives enhance the child’s overall learning and stimulation in order to ensure they can comfortably and successfully transit into the next level of higher learning.

Level 3

Level 3 is a more advance level than Level 2, students can be anywhere between the ages of 3 to 6.
